Who are we

Leafield Marine Limited (‘we’ or ‘us’) is a privately-owned company registered and operating in the UK. The company’s registration number is 05870564 and the registered office is 9 Atworth Business Park, Bath Rd, Atworth, Melksham, Wiltshire, SN12 8SB,UK.  We are committed to only collecting personal data we need to conduct our business and to ensuring we keep it secure.


Who policy apples to

This policy applies to customers, suppliers and anyone visiting our website as a potential customer. It also applies to existing and former employees or anyone providing us with personal data as a prospective employee (see separate section below).


What we collect

We collect information about you when you voluntarily provide us with information through our website Enquiry and Quotation Request form on our website or when you voluntarily provide us with an email address or other contact information.


How we use the information

We use the information you provide to conduct business with you or your company. This can include providing quotes, samples or processing sales and purchase transactions. We do not provide your data to third party processors unless we have a lawful basis to do so.


Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that may be placed on your device when you visit our site and complete an enquiry form. This saves your data locally in case you send the form again, but it is optional.


Data collection and purpose

We collect data that you may volunteer whilst making enquiries or conducting business with us. Verbal, emailed or other electronic submission of an enquiry, a request for quotation, a purchase order or a sales order all provide a lawful basis for us to process your data.


Storage of data

We store data for as long as we need to for the purpose it was provided. We store data securely within the UK and EU.  We have implemented IT Policies to ensure we maintain an effective security standard and are Cyber Essentials accredited.

Our security rules, policies and technical measures are designed to protect personal data from unauthorised access, improper use or disclosure, unauthorised modification, unlawful destruction or accidental loss and unlawful processing.


Access to data we may hold

You can ask us whether we are keeping personal data about you by sending an email to: datacontroller@leafieldmarine.co.uk or by writing to The Data Controller at the registered address shown above.

We will provide you with a readable copy of the personal data which we keep about you, within one month of receipt of this request, although we will require proof of your identity. We will provide this information free of charge.

We will however charge a reasonable fee when a request for information is manifestly unfounded or excessive, particularly if it is repetitive.  Any fee will be based upon the administrative cost to provide the information.  We may refuse a request if we believe it to be excessive, vicarious or otherwise inappropriate and you have the right to challenge that decision by making a complaint to the appropriate supervisory authority.

We allow you to challenge the data that we hold about you and, where appropriate,you may have the data erased, rectified or amended if it is incorrect or inaccurate.


Erasure of data

You have a right to have your personal data erased to prevent processing in the following specific circumstances:

  • Where the personal data is no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which it was originally collected/processed.
  • If you wish to withdraw consent.
  • If you object to the processing and there is no overriding legitimate interest for continuing the processing.
  • The data was unlawfully processed in accordance with the GDPR.
  • The personal data has to be erased in order to comply with a legal obligation.

Our website may contain links to enable you to visit other websites.  Once you have used these links to leave our website you should be aware that we have no control over any other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for any data you provide these websites which are not governed by this privacy policy.  You should exercise caution and look at the privacy policy of the website in question.


Job applicants, current and former employees

Employees will be made aware of the data we hold by way of their terms and conditions of employment.  We will only retain data relating to former employees for as long as necessary, again this is laid out within the employment contract.

If you are making an application to join us as an employee. We will ask you for and only process data relevant to your job application. Your data will be held securely and not passed to anyone third party without your consent.

We will use your personal contact details to progress your application and any other data to assess your suitability and if necessary to complete pre-employment checks including verifying your identity and your right to work within the UK.  We may therefore ask you for proof of identity, proof of qualifications and details of any referees required.
